- [Instructor] The box is a comfortable and cozy place. And it's tempting to stay in our little boxes much of the time. But sometimes you need to go outside the box to reveal interesting insights in your data that your restrictive box might not allow. This lesson isn't about explaining a dozen of examples of this, but rather picking apart one or two examples and examining why it was fruitful. If you look up transportation safety in the US, you'll find this Wikipedia article. And in the upper right hand corner, there's a nice little chart depicting vehicle miles driven and traffic fatalities per mile traveled. This is a fine overview of this topic. I can easily see that while we're driving way more every year, deaths have gone way down. Even as you count deaths per mile, not just total deaths.
