How to use the error-checking rules in Excel

- [Instructor] On this worksheet called employees, 2 you'll see a whole series of green triangles in column F, 3 also in column J, and there's also one in cell M3. 4 These are part of what we call 5 error checking rules in Excel. 6 They're not necessarily errors, but they're warnings, 7 and sometimes you want to see them and sometimes not. 8 And it's quite possible if you're looking at this same file, 9 maybe you are not seeing them. 10 Let me first point out 11 that if you go to the File tab in the ribbon 12 down the left hand side, 13 choose Options, all the way at the bottom. 14 Under Excel Options, click Formulas, 15 and at the bottom here, Error checking rules. 16 We'll see a bunch of them here. 17 Now, are these all errors? 18 Not really, but certainly they alert us to things going on 19 in worksheets that we are concerned about. 20 Sometimes they're not really errors. 21 We can turn these on and off. 22 If…
