- [Instructor] It's very important to figure out your KWY's. You have to know what you really want to say, what your data is saying, and what your audience needs to hear. Combined these three make up your KWY's for your visualization. But how do you do that? With pressure from various angles pushing different priorities, there can often be confusion about what's most important. It can be hard to narrow in on the key ideas in any visualization project. But there are some easy things you can do to help you get to KWY's. The first thing is to acknowledge that KWY's are very very narrow. By definition KWY is a subset of the information you have. Or sometimes it's not even what's in front of you when you start the project. It can be hard to do, but your first essential task is to admit that you can't prioritize everything. You must focus.
