- Excel has a function called MOD.…If you happen to see a description of it,…it might not grab your attention.…For example, on the formula's tab in the ribbon,…if you click the Reference button.…If you happen to be looking at some of the math functions,…in this list is a function called MOD.…When you see what it does, you might say,…"Well, why would I ever use that?"…MOD function returns the remainder from division.…Don't we usually wanna know what the actual result is?…We don't care about the remainder…but it does have an application and a couple of them.…
Here's one.…Imagine, we got a warehouse and we're moving the warehouse…so we got to pack up all the items we have there.…Let's imagine the items aren't terribly large.…and they ideally are stored in boxes or containers.…So we've got 162 of these items here.…Our boxes can hold just 16 items.…We'd like to know how many items are leftover after packing.…So if we decide 162 by 16, we get 10…with a remainder of two.…So we do want to know how many will have left over.…
