- [Instructor] This is a course about scenarios, but that means that it is also a course about storytelling. Scenarios are pictures of what you believe might happen in the future, and that means that you're creating a narrative that you are asking your audience to buy into. Stories have a long history, they form the backbone of society. They allow us to relate history, to provide behavioral guidance, the norms of a particular society, and also to provide entertainment. Business stories are a little bit different, in that, an internally-focused story doesn't necessarily need to be entertaining, but that doesn't mean it can't be. It can pass along company culture, which is very much like the behavioral guidance or normative storytelling that I mentioned earlier, you can send out marketing messages to represent your brand and also to help convince people to purchase your products or services, but they can also allow you to make analyses and predictions.
