- [Instructor] Macros are recordings of a repetitive task that you can easily run with just a keystroke. While they can be very helpful, they can also contain malicious code. Therefore, we need to mindful of how Excel treats workbooks that contain macros. After viewing this video, you'll understand how to enable and disable macros, and you'll understand the four options available to you. Let's take a look at our macros workbook and I'll show you an example of a workbook that has a macro included, and the settings that have been changed to not enable the macro but to give me a warning. So notice it's been opened in Protected View and the note says, "Be careful, files from the internet "can contain viruses," et cetera. Now at this point, I can go ahead and enable editing. And if I know that this document came from a trusted source and I'm not worried about any malicious macros, I can go ahead and click Enable Editing. And…
