Learn how to enable iterative calculations and how to use Goal Seek and Scenarios. Author Jen McBee demonstrates how to use Goal Seek to find a missing or unknown value in a worksheet using Goal Seek, and how to create additional scenarios for a range of data using the Scenario Manager. Jen also shows you how to enable iterations.
- [Instructor] In this video, we will be reviewing…how to use the What-If Analysis Tools.…We'll also be looking at how to enable iterations.…We'll first go into our Excel options…and enable our iterations.…Now, you're probably wondering what an iteration is.…Well, quite simply,…it's the repeated recalculation of a worksheet cell…until a specific numeric edition is said.…And you'll see once we get in and look at the options…that you can set for your iterations…exactly how you can control how many times…that calculation will be performed.…
This is important because your What-If analysis tools…that we'll be looking at today,…creating scenarios and using Goal Seek,…both use an iterative process.…We're going to be working in the…0405 What-If Analysis workbook.…So we're going to go ahead and jump in there…and let's start by looking at the…settings for our iterations.…We'll go to our file tab,…go down to options,…and click on the formulas tab.…
By default, your iterative calculations are not turned on,…so you'll need to come in and enable them first…
