- [Instructor] I think some people find distribution visualizations a little confusing for two reasons. At first you might ask, what's the difference between a distribution visualization and a comparison visualization? You may also ask when and why would I want to show distribution anyway? The second question helps answer the first, let's start there. When might you want to show distribution? The easiest example is something you may already be aware of. Did you learn about the bell curve in school? This is a typical bell curve, and here I'm simulating SAT scores for every single person who took the SATs last year. That's more than a million and a half people. The bell curve shows the distribution of scores for that entire giant data set. So we can see that there's a very small number of people who score in the 99th percentile and an equally tiny number who score in the first percentile. The very top and bottom…
