- Now that we know how to enable and disable macros, let's take some time to learn how to create a simple macro. Once we create our macro, we'll rename the macro and edit the macro. I'll then show you how to copy the macro between workbooks. Let's take a look at our create copy macros workbook. Now they're are a couple of different ways that you can start the process of recording a macro. First of all, we can go to our View tab then on the far right-hand side, we have our macros group and this is where we can view current macros, record a macro and choose to use relative references. Now what that means is, by default our macros are recorded using absolute references. So for instance, if I start recording and then come down and select the range C4 to F11, finish recording my formatting, stop recording.
