- [Instructor] So far in this chapter, we have created a P chart, which summarizes the proportion of units that have at least one defect. In this movie, I will talk about modified P charts, where you can use your knowledge about the process to determine whether or not to exclude certain values from your data set. As the base for my discussion, I will use the sample file 0204 Modified P Chart. And you can find that in the Chapter 2 folder of the exercise files collection. This P chart contains proportional data for a series of 15 dashes. The sample size for each was 25, and the number of defects is recorded in column C, which appears just to the left of the chart. And you can see both on the chart and the third row, that we had an unusual number of defects for a sample size or for batch number three. That was eighth defects. That number of defects, and therefore the proportion is much higher than any of the other values. So the question is, is there something about that particular…
