Course requirements and structure

- Before you delve into this course, you may wanna know the requirements. Well, you don't need to be a business entrepreneur or have a bunch of stocks and bonds to follow along with this course. You do need a willingness to think about money as more than what's just in front of you. It's not just a dollar bill, it has the potential to be so much more if used wisely. My examples are couch and business practicality. But the underlying principles are essential to everyday finance. This is the kind of stuff that'll get you to think about how and where you spend your money. There's a bit of math involved in this course, however, a spreadsheet program will make life easy for you. On a technical note, if you want to follow along with my spreadsheets and exercise files, you'll need Microsoft Excel. I've also included a handout with this course that includes all the major formulas and Excel functions that correlate with those formulas. There are challenges and solutions embedded throughout the course to help you practice the procedural knowledge that you've learned. You'll also find assessment questions at the end of each chapter to review conceptual knowledge. I have a bit of a real life aspect to this course as well as I'll be talking with business owner, Kevin Paffrath about his investment philosophy. One final note. If you're already familiar with what an investment is, and its different components, feel free to skip the first three videos of the next chapter. Okay, enough talk. Let's get going with the course.
