Join Dennis Taylor for an in-depth discussion in this video Counting working days with NETWORKDAYS, part of Excel 2011 for the Mac: Advanced Formulas and Functions.
- Calculating the number of days between two different dates…is relatively straightforward in Excel.…If we've got a project that started on May 5th of 2014…and ended on September 8th, we can simply write a formula,…equal, the later date minus the earlier date,…and that's the actual number of days.…But the heading here says Working Days.…How would we perform this operation…if we didn't want to count Saturdays and Sundays?…Straight math suggests that might be a little bit tricky.…Fortunately, there's a function called net work days,…and on this worksheet that's called net work days,…let's use a function that's going to allow us…to not count the weekend days,…and also, let's not count the holidays.…
Over in column F is a list of holidays…for this particular organization.…It can be longer than this.…It can be shorter, can cover different time frames.…They don't have to be in any particular order,…but let's take advantage of the fact…that instead of 126 days here,…if we don't work Saturdays and Sundays,…this is going to be fewer days.…
