- [Instructor] If you encounter date data 2 that's been entered as eight digits, 3 possibly those eight digits could refer 4 to year, day, month, month, day, year, 5 six different combinations. 6 As you look at the data in column A, 7 that could be an efficient way to store dates. 8 But as we look at these two entries in A one 9 and A two, you could interpret these 10 as being October 20th, 2006. 11 And so what are we looking at as we see the data? 12 The four rightmost characters represent the year. 13 The first two characters are the day, 14 the next two characters are the month. 15 So DMY you could say as a short description of 16 that day, month, year. 17 But that same data could be interpreted as year, day, month. 18 So looking at it this way, we see 2010, 19 the four leftmost characters for the year. 20 Next, two characters 20 represent the day 21 and the last two characters, 22 the six represent the month of…
