- [Instructor] When you create workbooks for others to use, sometimes you need to restrict the values that can be entered into certain cells. That's where data validation comes into play. In this video, we're going to look at how to create a new data validation rule and also how to configure a current rule. We're working with the 03_07 Data Validation file. Let's get going. This worksheet has our January 2018 travel expenses for our employees. We have their last name, first name, parking lot, mileage, and tolls. I want to restrict the parking lots that they can choose from, so I'm going to create a data validation rule for the information in Column C. Now this data is set up as a table, so I can go to the name box and select the parking lot range, which selects all the information in Column C in that table. We'll then click on our Data tab and go to data validation, and you can see in the Allow field that any value is allowed right now. We're going to restrict that to a list. We'll…
