- [Instructor] We've looked at the king of all comparison charts, bar charts. Now, let's look at some alternatives. For instance, the lollipop chart. It's just like a column chart but with a bubble at the end of a line in place of the rectangle. Why use the lollipop instead of bars? Well, sometimes it can alleviate what's known as the Moire Effect when you have a lot of bars next to each other and it can be hard to look at. See the visual vibration in the white space between these bars? The Moire Effect is one good reason you don't wear pajamas on TV. TVs and other screens make the Moire Effect worse. Or maybe it's because you want to really draw attention to the actual values themselves, because in this case the dots are what draw your eye rather than the entire rectangle size.
