- [Instructor] On this worksheet is a list of monthly sales covering the two year period beginning in January '16, through the end of December '17. And we want to calculate the cumulative total sales-to-date, and possibly we'd have this set up before you even had all the months in place. They're two broad approaches to this, I'm going to zoom in, holding down the Control key, using the mouse wheel, and talk about the logic behind either one of these. And they're equally acceptable. By the end of January 2016, our sales-to-date are simply equal to this number right there, so we could certainly write that in. But what's the total now, as of February? Well, we could add these two, but maybe more likely is this idea, what if we now say from now on every time we want an entry here, we're gonna be taking whatever we see here and add it on to the previous year-to-date.
