- [Instructor] Calculating percent of change 2 is a relatively straightforward formula in Excel, 3 but when we're trying to average a percentage change 4 over a period of months or years, 5 it gets a little bit trickier. 6 In this worksheet, we've got some sales numbers in row two, 7 and down in row six, 8 we're calculating the sales change month-to-month. 9 Here's the formula right here in cell C6. 10 We subtract the two entries, the two timeframes in question, 11 and then we divide by the starting entry, 12 and that's what we're doing in all these here too. 13 By the way, a slightly shorter version of this 14 with the same answer would be equal the later entry, 15 divided by the earlier entry, minus one. 16 Algebraically, that's the same, 17 that's why we'd be getting the same answers, 18 so we could be using those. 19 Momentarily here, I'll press control tilde, 20 we can see those formulas better. 21 Very similar, they…
