- On this worksheet called CustomDateFormats, we see lots of different dates, and actually, for each row, we're seeing the same date and displayed a lot of different ways. The heading at the top more or less explains the format here. Now much of the time, you don't have to worry about what the Ms and the Ds and the Ys mean, but you can begin to decipher a little bit about what's going on here. The difference between Column A and B, for example, I think you can see is the monthly entries are always in two digits, even if it's before the tenth month. And the same thing is happening with the days here. That's in Column B. Over in Column A, only single digits, when appropriate, for the month and for the day. Either one is acceptable, and if you wanted to change Column B for example to look like Column A, probably the fastest way after selecting this, you could right-click and go to Format Cells or press Control +1.
