- [Instructor] Modeling basic asset valuation and financial results are crucial skills for financial analysts. But it's often useful to go beyond that level and build financial models that show the effects of more complicated deals, things like mergers and acquisitions and leveraged buyouts. These types of advanced financial transactions are common, especially at larger companies. When we're doing more advanced financial modeling, we're typically trying to model a more complex deal. In particular, probably the most common areas where you see the need for advanced financial models are modeling buyouts by private equity firms and modeling merger and acquisition deals by large companies. Sometimes there are other types of deals that come up, such as recapitalizations or go-private transactions, where advanced financial models are also needed.
