- [Instructor] In column A of this worksheet are 10 tips. 2 They're short, 3 they're designed to make your use of Excel more proficient. 4 I'm going to cover them more or less in order. 5 Press Control + Enter to keep the active cell in place. 6 I'm about to write a formula in cell C2. 7 It's going to calculate a new salary. 8 As soon as I finish that formula, 9 I want to copy it down the column. 10 And if you press Enter when typing a formula, 11 it automatically moves the active cell downward. 12 I don't want that to happen. 13 So here's the formula I'm about to write, 14 =B2 times B1. 15 I need that to be an absolute reference. 16 I want the entire column to contain the reference to B1. 17 I'll press the function key F4 18 to make that an absolute address, 19 and I'll complete the formula 20 by putting in + and then click cell B2. 21 And rather than pressing Enter, 22 which would move the active cell downward 23…
