Append queries

- [Instructor] Next on the agenda, we've got appending queries. Now the appending tools live right next to the merge queries tool in that combined pane in the query editor. And when you open up the append options, you'll see a pretty simple dialog box. You can append just two tables or you can append three or more. In this case, what we're looking at here is the combination of two data tables, FoodMart_Transactions_1997 and FoodMart_Transactions_1998. Now appending queries allows you to combine or essentially just stack tables that share a common structure and set of columns. Now that's the most important key here, they have to share that common column structure and data type. So you can't try to stack a column that's formatted as a date in one table and a whole number in another. It won't let you do those mixed data types. So in this case, we're appending these two data tables and it's legal to do so because they each contain the same exact set of columns with the same defined data…
