Learning to use the AutoSum button and its keystroke shortcut will save you a ton of time and simplify the creation of many formulas. This feature facilitates the use of other functions like AVERAGE, MIN, and MAX and you can use it to create totals on the right and bottom of ranges containing numbers.
- [Voiceover] One of Excel's most valuable tools…when working with formulas, is the AutoSum button.…And we're looking at a worksheet called "AutoSum".…On the right side of the home tab in the ribbon…you'll see the AutoSum button,…along with a drop arrow to the right,…giving you some other capabilities as well.…You will also find the AutoSum button on the…formulas tab in the ribbon off to the left.…Much bigger button here with that same drop arrow.…Anytime we want to add data from the…left or from above, we can use this feature.…
We can also use it in other situations as well.…There's also a keystroke shortcut.…I'm about to put a total in cell G2.…I can click the AutoSum button in either of it's locations.…It immediately exposes what it's about to do.…And probably 99 percent of the time…it does exactly what you want it to do.…You'll simply press Return.…And we're about to do the same thing cell B8.…Now not only we can we use the AutoSum button…but we can use a faster alternative, a keystroke shortcut,…Command, Shift, T, and here there's no pause.…
