As your company grows, you've probably found that one of the most common problems in maintaining good data hygiene is identifying and eliminating duplicate values from a data list. In this movie I will show you how to quickly and easily remove duplicate values from a data list, but also give you some warnings about how it can affect your data and why you should never remove duplicates on your only copy of a data list.
- [Voiceover] As your company grows you have probably…found that one of the most common problems in…maintaining your data hygiene is identifying…and eliminating duplicate values from a data list.…In this movie, I will show you how-to quickly…and easily remove duplicate values from a list.…But also give you some warnings about how it can…affect your data, and why you should never remove…duplicates from your only copy of a data list.…For this example, I have a list of six names…and they are here in cells B3 through C8.…
And what I'd like to do, first, is remove…duplicates based on the values in one column.…So, for example, if I only wanted to have…a single entry for a given last name…I would select cells C3 through C8.…So I'll go ahead and do that, selecting C3 to C8.…And then on the data tab of the menu…click remove duplicates.…Doing so displays the remove duplicates dialog box…and I see that I have two duplicates found…and that four unique values will remain.…
So I have Frye and Frye and Ng and Ng.…I'll go ahead and click remove duplicates…
