Count the number of unique entries: Excel for Mac 2016: Tips and Tricks

There is no function that directly returns the number of unique entries within a range, but an array formula, when focused on a range like C2:C500, will return the result you need: {=SUM(1/(COUNTIF(C2:C500,C2:C500))}. Do not type the braces that surround the formula; press control+shift+return to complete the formula.
