Adjust chart settings to manage empty and hidden cells: Excel for Mac 2016: Charts in Depth

If the source data for a chart includes hidden data, that data will not appear in the chart, but you have the option to display it - right-click a chart and click Select Data and then Hidden and Empty cells. Options for displaying hidden data and for displaying empty cells (as gaps or as zero) are available.
