Join Jan Kabili for an in-depth discussion in this video Sharing photos to Facebook, part of Photoshop Elements 12 Essential Training.
Elements offers lots of options for sharing your photos, online, by email, and more. In this movie, I'll show you how you can directly upload your photos to Facebook, to share them with your friends there. You can share to Facebook either from here in the organizer or from the editor, where you'll also find a share menu. The fist step is to close that menu and then select the photos that I want to upload to Facebook. And, then, I'll go back to that menu and I'll choose Facebook. Now, of course, I need to be online when I'm doing this. The first window I'll see is this one asking my authorization for Elements to upload media to my Facebook account.
There's also an option here to download my Facebook friend list so that Elements can make use of it in its people recognition system. I'd prefer not to do that so I'm going to uncheck Download Facebook Friend List. And then I'll click Authorize. Because I am online, that launches my web browser with my Facebook Login page. I'll type in my login credentials. I'll click Login and that completes the authorization process. Now, I'll close my web browser and go back to Elements. Here in Elements, I'll click Complete Authorization. Now, if during that process you see more or different authorization screens than I showed you here, that just means that Facebook has changed its process a little bit.
And, for the most part you can go ahead and just authorize those requests. When you come back to Elements, you'll complete the authorization process by clicking here. And, that opens this window where I'll prepare my photos for upload to Facebook. Down here, I have options to remove one of the photos I've selected or to add to this collection of photos that I'm going to upload to Facebook. I'll just stick with these two. These photos don't have people tags, so it doesn't matter whether I've checked upload people tags in these photos. Over here, I'll choose the Facebook album into which I want to upload these photos. If I select upload photos to an existing album, here I'll see a list of albums in my Facebook account.
If I want to create a new album for these photos, I'll click here and I'll give the album a name. I'll call this Colorado Landscapes. The location is, of course, Colorado and I can type a description. The most beautiful state. Here, I can choose who will see these photos. I can make them public so anyone can see them, or just allow my friends to see them, or the friends of my friends. I'll choose Friends Only, and here I'll leave the photo upload quality set to standard. And then I'll click Upload. It may take a moment to upload the photos to Facebook, depending on how many photos you've selected to upload, and how fast your internet connection is.
I'm notified when the upload is complete, and at this point, I could click Done, and that would take me back to Elements or, I could choose to visit Facebook, to see my post. And, this will open my web browser, and take me to my Facebook account. Let's do that. Because I'm already logged in to Facebook, I don't have to bother logging in again. That just takes me right to my account and here I can see the two photos that I just uploaded to my Colorado Landscapes album. So, that's a quick and easy process. Thanks to the direct link between Photoshop Elements and Facebook.
