Using mobile as a digital whiteboard
- Now that we've seen how to share the screen of our mobile devices to the rest of the class, let's look at a couple of other ways to leverage them in our classes. The first is to use a tablet as a digital whiteboard. Begin by sharing your screen with the rest of the class. I'll use the ENV 432 reflector. Next, open any drawing application. The app that I prefer is called Explain Everything. It's an incredibly powerful app that's available for both iOS and Android. Touch the plus button to open a new project and then select a color template to work with. I find that for classes, the white background with black, red, and blue is easier for students to see. Explain Everything has a primary toolbar on one side of the screen or the other, with three selectable color blocks underneath. On either the top or bottom of your screen, you should see toolbars for the slide controls, recording, home, and sharing. The rest of the screen is a dedicated whiteboard.
