Recording your voice
- The human voice is one of the most powerful teaching and learning tools we have. Learning to create a good recording of your own voice is a skill everyone can learn. Creating a good recording requires three things. A quiet place to record, a good microphone, and the right recording settings. Let's start with where to record. If you have your own office, a small meeting room, or even a spare bedroom at home, you're all set. Start with reducing outside noise by closing your door or any windows. Mute the sound on your computer, cell phone and any other devices in the space, especially fans and heaters. Sit up comfortably in your chair, and adjust your monitor so that the screen is angled slightly away from you. Next, let's talk about microphones. Look for a headset mic with noise cancelling and a USB connection. You can find a good one online for about $30.
