- [Instructor] One of the most common types of GMAT reading comprehension questions is what we'll call the primary purpose question. So with these, the GMAT is testing your ability to determine why the author wrote the passage in the first place. In other words, what did he or she intend it to do? So in this video, we will look at a primary purpose question in detail. So here we have a passage. So go ahead and pause and take your time reading it so you can follow the video more closely. So what I want you to remember for this type of question, or rather, recognize, is it's going to have wording similar to these wordings. The primary purpose of the passage is to, or maybe something like, The passage is primarily concerned with. And notice questions as well for which answer choices kind of summarize the passage in really abstract or vague, or maybe general, terms. So this might be another clue that they're testing your ability to determine the purpose of the passage. Okay, so here we…
