In this video, learn about mean, median, and range.
[Instructor] The GMAT will probably present you…with some basic statistics concepts.…So this video will cover median, mean, and range.…So the median of a set of numbers,…if there are an odd number of them,…so this set of numbers has three…numbers in it, right, and that is odd,…then the median would just be the middle number.…So the median is two.…Now if I had given you this same set presented like this,…the median does not change to three, right.…We would have to rewrite it in order…from low to high to get the median.…
So what if we had the median of…an even numbered set of numbers?…So what is the median of one, two, three, and four?…In this case the median would be…the average of the middle two numbers.…So the average of two and three is 2.5.…So you may note that if you have…an even number of numbers in a set,…the median is the average of the middle two.…Speaking of average, another way to say average is mean.…
So if I had five people, well let's say three people,…and their ages were 30, 33, and 39,…the way that I would get their average age…
