Elements of a research question
- Let's take a look at a common way people might write a research question. What is the effect of poverty on education in the United States? The sentiment behind this question is important and there's a need regarding the topic, but this is a problematic question. A well-crafted research question needs to provide clarification and focus on a topic which allows for a methodology to develop and results to be published. This question is too general. There's no foundation to anchor your research. When crafting a research question, it's best to consider the process by thinking about it in terms of elements. A good question will introduce the research topic and lead you into the specific issues of your study.
