- [Instructor] Okay, there are a bunch of things we need to cover regarding circles on the GMAT and that is what we will talk about in this video. So draw a circle. So things we might want to know about the circle, the distance from the center of the circle to any point on its edge is the radius. So radius. The distance all the way across the circle through its center is the diameter. Usually we're concerned with circle radius when we're using formulas for circles, like the formula for circumference. So the circumference of a circle is the distance all the way around the circle. The formula for that is two pi times the radius. The formula for the area of a circle is pi times the radius squared. If you have trouble remembering which is which, squared kind of rhymes with area, kind of has the same sound in it so you might use that to remember 'em.
