- As teachers and trainers, it can be very easy to fall into the trap of being an expert. You've probably invested years of your life in deep learning about your subject. You know the concepts, how to apply them and how to talk to other experts in your field but when you go to teach the subject to your students who may be brand new to your field, you quickly realize that you're now speaking a completely different language than they are and this makes for very difficult communication. In this week's episode, I'm going to share with you five tips to help you avoid the expert trap and regain your beginner's mind. Number one, check something off your bucket list. Pick something that you've always wanted to do but have never even gotten started accomplishing. Begin doing the research on what it will take for you to accomplish this goal, what do you need to learn, what new gear do you need, where do you need to go to accomplish this goal and how are you going to get there?
