- [Instructor] Editing video is like creating a sculpture from a chunk of stone. The story you want to tell is in your clips, you just have to figure out what to chip off, what to polish, and what to add on. I'm going to show you the basic editing tools and techniques you need to get rolling. In the media bin, I have all the talking head clips I shot on my camera and I need to edit them into a basic story. Just in case you're not familiar with the video editor timeline, it reads left to right just like a book. So I'm going to start by dragging this first clip to the timeline. And I'm going to preview that by clicking the space bar on the keyboard. Okay, this clip has some extra parts I really don't need. I just want the stuff in the middle. So I need to get rid of the head and tail. I'm going to show you a couple of ways to do that. First of all, I'm going to select the clip and then just drag the end here until I get right before I start talking. It's kind of hard to see there…
