Google Web Designer fundamentals
Google Web Designer is a rather interesting tool. It is a what you see is what you get motion graphics tool for the production of HTML 5 pages, sort of. The name is a bit misleading. It is a great tool for creating CSS 3 animations for HTML 5 banner ads. It isn't so hot for web page creation. Though it is possible to create web pages using this tool, there really are no strong text features. And forget about opening an existing HTML document unless it too was created in Google Web Designer. Also this product is in beta. So cut it some slack. And the output works great in web kit browsers such as Safari and Chrome, but performance is a bit spotty in Firefox and other browsers. Still, it's a rather neat motion graphics tool, so let's get started. And to get yourself started, download this chapter's exercise files to your desktop.
