I will demonstrate the different Lockdown Mode options and how they are used to secure a vSphere ESXi host.
- [Voiceover] In this video, I'll be demonstrating…how to configure lockdown mode on an ESXi host.…We'll be using the VMware Hands On Lab environment…to complete this demonstration.…We're using the vSphere with operations management six lab.…So to begin, let's try connecting directly…to an ESXi host using the vSphere client.…We'll log in with local credentials on the ESXi host,…and we should see that the vSphere client…connects successfully.…This means that lockdown mode has not been configured…on this ESXi host, because we're able to access it…without going through vCenter.…
And that's the purpose of lockdown mode,…is to force all management traffic to flow through vCenter.…Let's connect to the vSphere web client…and configure lockdown mode on the EXSi host.…As we log into the vSphere web client,…we'll be connecting to vCenter,…and any management tasks that we perform…using the vSphere web client will reach the host…through the vCenter server.…Let's choose Hosts and Clusters.…And under Hosts and Clusters, I'll select host esx-02a.…
