From the course: SAP S/4 HANA Financial Accounting Overview

Scenarios covered

- Hi. Welcome to the S/4 HANA Financial accounting overview. This course is designed to give you a broad overview of the scope and core capabilities of the SAP S/4 HANA Financial accounting modules in SAP. The screenshots and demos that you will see also use the new S/4 Fiori user experience. We're going to start the course with a Finance overview, then we'll progress into a more detailed process review. At the end of the course you'll also find an appendix with a printed Quick reference guide. So as far as an introduction, what are we going to cover in more detail in the course? What you'll learn about is, we're going to identify the core modules and sub modules that make up S/4 Financial accounting, as there's a broad range of capability and functions and SAP breaks it down into different modules and sub modules which we'll go through. We're also then, for each of those modules and core modules we're going to review the common business tasks and transactions that I've done, and also understand the master data concept in SAP. And finally we will look at reporting and integration scenarios of S/4 HANA Finance with other modules. So in a bit more detail, what are the scenarios we'll be looking at? As I said, we'll first do an overview and after that overview we'll then go down into the actual process details. There are four major process areas to look at and these are different sub modules in SAP. So, one, we'll be looking at the general ledger itself, and next, we'll be looking at accounts payable, then accounts receivable and asset accounting. These are the core modules that are very common in any SAP Finance implementation. At the end of it, we'll also cover some optional additional modules that aren't part of the core S/4 HANA suite but things that are good to know about other capability or advanced capability that you may want to add to your system. We mentioned Fiori. Now, what is SAP Fiori? For those who are less familiar, in the new SAP S/4 user experience, it uses what we call these Fiori apps, that are often called tiles. And you'll that Fiori is based on a concept of light weight apps. They tend to be role-based user tasks and they tend to replace other SAP transactions that used to exist. Or you will find that an individual Fiori app may combine multiple SAP transactions into one complete app. Fiori apps are also used for reporting analytics. And a key capability is that they are available on any device. For instance, you could have an app that runs on a tablet, or your phone, or on a PC or Mac. This is going to be a key change on S/4 although you can still use the SAPgui this is SAP's direction and all of the screenshots in this course are based on the Fiori user experience. You can learn more about Fiori at this link. That's it. It starts with a Finance overview.
