Power BI: The basics

- [Instructor] Before we begin working with Power BI, there are some concepts that it's helpful to understand so that we have a handle on how the parts and pieces work. Power BI is the third tool in the Power platform, and it is different than Microsoft Flow and different from PowerApps. Power BI is a business intelligence tool. And Power BI has particular building blocks or components. First, datasets. A dataset is a set of data that we will use in Power BI. A dataset could be all of the data in single entity in the common data service. It could be information from an Excel spreadsheet. It could come from any one of the huge number of data connectors that are available to the Power platform. So we could have information coming from Salesforce, information coming from GitHub, from Facebook, from Twitter. If you name a data source, the odds are good that it is available to you, and the dataset doesn't have to be one thing, it can combine data. We could have information about…
