Join Gini von Courter for an in-depth discussion in this video Install the LinkedIn Sales Navigator widget, part of Dynamics 365: LinkedIn Sales Navigator Integration.
- [Instructor] Our first step is to download the zip file that includes the widget. If you are using the installation guide in electronic form, you'll find a link to the LinkedIn solution for Dynamics on the second page right after import the solution. However, if you're using the guide in printed form or if you're not able to use the guide at all, then I have a bit.ly link here LinkedInDynamics with a capital L for linked a capital I for in and a capital D for Dynamics that will take you to the right page.
And when we get here, there's a file. Now right now it's called LinkedIn2305. This is a version number so if you're looking at the guide, the guide says that the file is named LinkedIn2007, so don't worry every time they update it they're updated the number. This is an evergreen link but the name will change. And we want to save this, I'm simply going to right click and choose save target as and I'm going to send it to my downloads folder when I have a choice.
And click save, it's finished downloading already. And I'm now ready to go to Microsoft Dynamics 365. So I close the dialog and I'm going to go over to Dynamics. Dynamics is loading right now and I need to get to solutions, so I am in sales. I can go to sales setting, if I was in service I could go to service settings. Regardless, I want to get to settings whether I'm looking at Dynamics 365 or Dynamics CRM2016, I need to get to settings, I'll then find solutions.
And I'm goingn to click solutions to open it. And I'll see a list of all of the solutions that are already loaded, most of these were installed at one time. Notice we have an installation date right here and we want to install another. The button that we wanna use for that is the import button. It is to the right of delete and show dependencies right here on the tool bar, click import.
And now we need to go browse and go find a solution. In my case, remember I dropped this into the downloads folder and it will be at the very top of this folder sorted by date modified. If not, just make sure it is. My LinkedIn version number manage.zip file. And click open, that's my solutions package. Click next and the solution information page will load. We shouldn't see anything surprising here. This was created by LinkedIn, its name is LinkedInSalesNavigator, it's a managed package.
If I wanted to see more solution details I could click here. And notice that by enabling this command we consent to share data with an external system. That's exactly what we hoped to do so that works. Let's click next, make sure on the import options that the enable any SDK message processing steps included in the solution check box is enabled. And click import, it's importing our customizations. Note that if you were upgrading from an older version of this solution, you would also see another dialog before this that would ask you to stage this for upgrade.
And you want to do that and maintain your customizations. We weren't prompted to do that because I'm not installing this as an upgrade. I'm installing this as a new installation. If you are upgrading and you have a lot of customizations, this could take a little bit of time. So we're going to wait for this operation to complete. When it's all done we should see a summary window. It says that this completed successfully. It shows a list of all of the items that were imported.
If I want to be able to document this I can download a log file. In the past I have had this installation deliver a warning when it was done even though it completed successfully. I was able to download the log file and look at it. What you care about is did it or did it not complete successfully. And in this case it has, at this point if you are installing in Dynamics 365 like I am you are all done and can click close. If you are using Dynamics CRM On Premise, then there are some additional steps you need to take.
Those are outlined in the installation guide. You have some additional configuration that you need to do and because you're exchanging information with an outside system then you need to set up your API key and your secret key to be able to allow the applications to talk to each other. When you are finished regardless of whether you are using On Prem or Dynamics 365 you'll need to test the solution and we will do that in the next movie.
