Get started with the Power Platform

- [Instructor] You'll need to make sure that you have accounts and permissions for all of the tools that we will be using in this course. You'll need to have access to PowerApps. PowerApps Plan 2 will give you everything that you need and there is a free trial of that available if you don't have access to PowerApps already. Microsoft Flow. Microsoft Power BI. I'd also like you to install the desktop version of Power BI, Power BI Desktop. If that's something you can't do in your learning environment, that's okay, but it's a tool that you'll need if you're going to model data for Dynamics. And finally, we're working with Dynamics 365, so you will need to have a license for Dynamics 365 as well. Speaking of Dynamics, here we are. This is what Dynamics home looks like and we see applications. These are applications by Microsoft. Dynamic Sales, for example, and Talent Attract. But then we have other applications that aren't pinned to the top, some of which were apps that were created by Microsoft to demonstrate how we can create apps using the Power platform. An example of that would be the PowerApps Demo Asset Checkout. There's a Meeting Capture demo that you can customize that we see here. A Fundraiser PowerApps Demo. And we will be looking at some of those later. But this is where your applications live. If you wanted to get more applications, you can, and there are a couple of sources of applications. This is going to to take us to AppSource so that we can connect to applications that were created by Microsoft Partners, or perhaps by folks in your organization. In addition to Dynamics, you need to be able to get to PowerApps, Flow, and Power BI, and one of the easiest ways to get there is either from Office home or from Dynamics, because you'll find them listed in your apps. If I click on All apps, I can search. For example, if I'm looking for Power Bi, yep, I have it. If I'm looking for PowerApps, I have that as well. And if I'm looking for Flow, guess what? I have all three. What happens if you don't? Well, then you can go, for example, to flow.microsoft.com and sign up for Microsoft Flow using exactly the same email account you're using in Dynamics. To sign up for PowerApps, web.powerapps.com. And you'll find Power BI at powerbi.com. Again, make sure you are using the same email address, the same account, for PowerApps, Power Bi, and Flow that you are using in Microsoft Dynamics. And when you are ready for Power BI Desktop, if you click the download button in Power BI, here's Power BI Desktop right here. The applications that we'll be creating in PowerApps are what are called mobile first applications. They're really meant to be used on a tablet or a cellphone. A mobile device first but can also be run in a browser. And here, notice that you can download PowerApps Mobile, PowerApps for Windows, you can also download Dynamics 365 Mobile. Lots of mobile choices that are available to you here in the Power platform with Dynamics 365. Make sure then that you have logins and can fire up all of these products: Dynamics 365, PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, and Power BI if you wish to work along with me in the course.
