Fields explained: Introduction and definitions
As we talked about in content explained, all of your data is stored in a set of fields. Now you'll remember that we talked about the fact that if you just shove everything in the body, well, then you can't do layouts, you can't do filters and you can't sort by any of the information inside that field when it comes time to creating say landing pages of all the new businesses or all the news in a certain category. And so we use fields. And so here on the screen, you're looking at some of the fields we're going to create for our business content type. We're going to have a logo, an address, a website, a phone number, a category, a video and some downloadable files. Once again, if we shove those in the body, well, then we are out of luck later on. When our boss comes along and says, "Hey I need a new business directory listing. Could you create a page that says "Show me all the businesses", sorted alphabetically in…
