Skill Level Beginner
(upbeat music) - Hi, and welcome to the Drupal 9 Essential Training Series. My name is Rod Martin, and I'll be your trainer for the entire series. In this first course, we're going to introduce you to Drupal and go through a quick tour of the administration interface. You know, Drupal's come a long way since Dries wrote that first line of code over 20 years ago. In this first course, I'm going to give you the overview of the entire series, introduce you to Drupal and talk about what you'll need to complete the course. This is a participatory course. In other words, there are exercises all through that we'd really like you to do. You'll learn a lot just watching the videos, but you'll learn so much more if you do the exercises along with us. Next we'll talk about terminology. There are definitely some words and terms that Drupal uses that you may not be familiar with. Then we'll show you how to get set up in order to do the course. Whether you're going to do it on your own local system or you're going to do it on a website out on the internet, we'll make sure you're fully prepared to follow along with all the examples. Then we'll talk about planning. Now, planning any website is pretty important, but planning your Drupal website is even more important, and I'll talk a lot more about that when we get there. And then finally, we'll take a tour of the administration interface, from the left to the right, from the most used to the least used, by the time we're done, you'll have your website started and you'll have a solid understanding of where you need to go in the Drupal interface to do certain things. And before we continue, let me show you the overview for the entire series. This is our site building workflow. We'll refer back to this a number of times throughout the entire series, and it really is best practices when you're building your Drupal website. All right, well, with that quick introduction, let's dive in.
