- [Instructor] Design view is Dreamweaver's original visual editing environment, and boy it's really showing its age. Let's switch this page from live view to design view. Like that it doesn't look too bad, but let's collapse these panels by clicking the double chevron icon at the top right, and oh dear, the navigation menu now looks a bit of a mess, and if I scroll down, these three items here should all be alongside each other, but the third one has dropped to the bottom, and if I switch to this other page, events.html, it's a complete disaster. To understand why design view is so poor at rendering web pages, you need to know a little about the history of Dreamweaver. Design view's origins go back to the days when the only reliable way to lay out a webpage was using nested tables.
