(air rushing) - [Voiceover] Hi, I'm Joe Lowery, here to welcome you to Dreamweaver and WordPress: Building Themes. WordPress is among the top content management systems, or CMS, and blogging platforms in use today. One of the primary reasons web professionals turn toward WordPress when creating sites for their clients is its combination of power features and full design customization. In WordPress, a site's look and feel is controlled by the theme it uses.
There are two main ways you can customize a theme for a website. First, you can acquire one of the thousands of available themes and manipulate the structure and or CSS. The other approach to working with themes is to build it from the ground up, and that's exactly what we're going to cover in this course. I'll help you understand how the various pieces of the WordPress puzzle fit together, and show you how to use Dreamweaver's power tools to build them quickly and efficiently. We'll expand our theme exploration with details on how to create custom page templates, personalized search results, and more.
Creating your own theme from scratch may be the best way to really get your head around the types of sites possible with Dreamweaver and WordPress. Let's get started.
