Creating a library item

Now we're going to take a look at creating library items. Now as I mentioned earlier, library items and templates are somewhat similar in function. Both are used to apply changes to multiple pages with ease, but the difference is that templates affect the entire page design, whereas you use library items for individual page elements, both inside and outside of templates. Basically, a library item can be a bit of text, an image, a table. Anything that you're planning on putting on a lot of pages within your site. Probably one of the best examples is a copyright notice.

Let's say you have copyright 2007 on all of your pages, but then it becomes 2008. If you have a hundred pages, and if you don't have this set up as a library item, you'd have to go and open each one of those pages, and turn 2007 into 2008. Using a library item makes this process much easier. Let's see how this works. I'll open up index.html. And down at the bottom, sure enough, we have a Copy...
