(gentle violin music) - Highlighting a few key differences between your approach to sketching a landscape and urban sketching can really help to strengthen your drawings. And the first element to really be aware of is figures. In urban sketching you can use figures to your advantage in your drawings. And because we know the scale of a human figure, then your sketch always sits in relationship to this scale, so adding figures into your drawings can be the easiest way to get an idea of the scale of the scene that you're drawing and the atmosphere of the city. The next element is the composition and the perspective. And landscape compositions will usually work best within a landscape format. So you can get a really nice sense of calming space, horizontal lines, and a really pleasing flow.
