Challenge: Sketch realistic windows and doors
- So we've seen how the angle of the sun and the intensity of the light on buildings can change the atmosphere and the feel of your sketches. I'm looking for a balance of dark tones that add depth and solidity, and superfine lines add a sense of scale and detail, gives your drawings a nice harmony. More often than not, you'll find these superfine lines that link to a human presence. A washing line, a TV aerial, or a window box, that subtly brings a human element to a building. So once you're aware of perspective and the way that different angles can add interest, even to the most mundane objects, it can really open your eyes to so many different drawings that are all around you. So I want to challenge you to go out and look for a doorway or a window that's in strong directional light, that has an acute angle to the perspective. So if you're faced with a window and you see the light just catching it, just move your body position slightly, so you force that angle. Think about lots of…
