- When you're dictating using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, sometimes things will show up on screen that you just simply didn't say, and they need to be corrected as opposed to using the "scratch that" command that allows you to start over. Correcting actually makes changes to your User Profile so that going forward, you won't have to make those changes again. We're going to explore this in greater detail now as we continue with our document that we started earlier, the Mini Panel Product Information Sheet. You can open up ProductInfo0304 if you're getting caught up.
Let's just click up here at the very top in front of Mini Panel. Let's say we want to add our company name, Kinet-Eco, which is spelled K, i, n, e, t–E, c, o, definitely something that you wouldn't find in the Vocabulary or the dictionary, for example. We'll give it a shot here by turning on our microphone and saying "Kinet–Eco." Kinet–Eco. Scratch that. Kinet–Eco. Scratch that.
Kinet–Eco. Okay, I'm turning off the microphone because obviously, we're not going to get what we need. This is something that needs to be corrected, and when we correct it, we can add it to our Vocabulary, something we've already done earlier, but in this case, we're adding a proper name that simply would not appear in a dictionary or a Vocabulary by default. Instead, we're going to use "correct that" and see what happens. Correct that. Spell that.
K, i, n, e, t – E, c, o. Play that back. Kinet–Eco. Click okay. Okay, so we have it in there, but is it going to work moving forward, or is it something that we're going to need to take a step further and train? Let's try it out. We'll simply click because we're not using the microphone at this point, and we'll just click in the first paragraph here after the word "the" where we see Mini Panel and add Kinet–Eco there, as well.
Kinet–Eco. Correct that. Okay, I'm turning off the mic, and as you can see, there are no choices for the correct spelling of Kinet–Eco. Correcting it the first time allowed us to get what we needed in our document, but going forward, you can see we're not seeing it show up here, so it's something that we want to add to our Vocabulary. Let's do that now. We'll go back up to the DragonBar, click Vocabulary. We've seen this before. We're going to Add a new word or phrase, and it's going to be Kinet–Eco, the way we want it to appear on screen, Kinet–Eco, and the Spoken form over here, it could be something that is more phonetic.
It may not be real words in the dictionary, if we type in, for example, Kinet, eeco, like so. When we click Add, you can see that that word definitely is not something that would be typically found in a dictionary or the Vocabulary, but we can click OK if this is the pronunciation that we're looking for. Clicking OK does allow us to add it. Now, we still haven't trained it, so let's see what happens when we turn the microphone back on and try this again.
Scratch that. Kinet–Eco. Beautiful. By adding it, we'll never have to go through that correction again. Correcting things is very different from starting over. The "scratch that" command allows us to restate something that we stated incorrectly. The "correct that" option allows us to make those corrections, adding things to our Vocabulary, for example, so they will never pop up again as we go forward.
