A lot of the power of Splunk comes from the add-ons. This is especially true of alerting. Set up the Slack plugin and trigger some alerts to a Slack instance.
(light music)…- [Instructor] The Slack integration for Splunk…is surprisingly simple to configure.…Splunk and Slack interact via a simple webhook.…First you'll need to set up a free Slack instance.…You can use an existing Slack instance if you have one,…but I'd recommend against that…if you're using it for actual work.…It's not a good idea to experiment…with real systems while you're learning.…I won't go through the Slack setup,…but it's really easy.…Just go to slack.com and follow the instructions.…
Now we'll want to install a Slack plugin.…So go down to find more apps.…And we'll search for Slack.…And this is the one we want.…It's called Slack Notification Alert.…Just click install.…And you'll need your username and password for splunk.com.…Once that's installed it may prompt you to restart.…Just say restart now.…And this'll take a couple of minutes.…
While that's going let's go over to our Slack instance,…and I'm gonna go down here where it says apps…and click the plus.…And I'll search for webhook.…And i'l click this, Incoming WebHooks.…
