OpenFlow vSwitch (OVS) in GNS3

OpenFlow vSwitch (OVS) in GNS3

(whooshing) - [David] GNS3 has added Docker support from version 1.5. In this series of videos I'm gonna show you the OpenFlow table of Open vSwitch, and I'll also show you how to integrate Open vSwitch with OpenDaylight. Which is an SDN, or software defined networking controller. We'll also run a CiscoDevNet OpenDaylight OpenFlow application on the OpenDaylight controller, and use the RESTCONF API to write flows to the Open vSwitch switchers running within GNS3. That will allow us to implement policies such as permitting or denying flows between devices, or logically recabling the network to create a virtual patch panel within Open vSwitch. So what is Open vSwitch? It's a production quality multi-layer open virtual switch. And it's licensed under the open source Apache 2 license. As an analogy this is very similar to VMWare's vNetwork distributed vswitch, or Cisco's Nexus 1000V. This switch supports traditional protocols, such as sFlow Span, RSPAN, LACP, VLANS, traffic queuing and…
